The Robin Wood Prize, which celebrates comics and graphic storytelling, returns for its third edition on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October in Asunción. The event is presented by Fundación Itaú and the Library and Central Archive of the National Congress, where it will take place.1
This year it adds a new illustration and caricature category, aimed at graphic artists whose work goes beyond comics in the strict sense.1
Two evenings
The programme opens on Friday at 19:00 with an exhibition and a conversation between authors and the public about making and sharing comics. The awards ceremony follows on Saturday, also at 19:00, when winners in each category will receive their statuettes.1
The date is deliberate: 17 October is Comics Day in Paraguay. The prize is named after Robin Wood, the Paraguayan-born writer behind some of the best-known adventure comics published in Argentina.1
